Hello, pilgrims!
👋 Planning your Camino de Fisterra? Here are some tips (many of which apply to all routes):
Preparation:
• Comfortable footwear: It's essential to wear sturdy footwear that you've worn before to avoid blisters.
• Light backpack: Carry only the essentials so you don't overload yourself. It's best not to carry more than 10% of your body weight. I recommend the less the better.
• Planning: Research the stages and have a map. There are many apps that can help you.
During the Camino:
• Hydration and nutrition: Bring water and snacks. Keep in mind that along the way, and especially during peak season, you'll be able to replenish your energy along the way.
• Sun protection: Apply a good sunscreen before and during the stage, especially if it's long and you're exposed to the sun's harshest hours. It's a terrible feeling to have everything rubbing against you while you walk or to not be able to rest. • Foot care: Apply Vaseline and wear good socks that you've verified are suitable for your feet.
• Connect with other pilgrims: Sharing experiences with other pilgrims enriches you on the Camino and as people.
Once in Fisterra:
• Celebrate your achievement: You've reached the end of the world! Enjoy the lighthouse and the views. It's the best sunset I've ever seen!
• Don't forget the Fisterrana: Register your Camino at the hostel and at the Tourist Office at 31 Praza da Constitución. (Check schedules)
